Campus-RS CSU/DS1/DSX-1 Campus-RS™ CSU/DS1/DSX-1 interface modules install directly into a Campus-RS remote unit or Campus-RS Star concentrator and provide direct access to a T1 (1.544 Mbps) network. These interface cards, which feature fully integrated DSU/CSU capabilities, simplify installation and reduce the overall cost of ownership by eliminating the need for additional network access equipment. The Campus-RS CSU/DS1 (Channel Service Unit/Digital Service, Level 1) interface card is used to terminate “long haul” T1 circuits (up to 6 kft) at the customer premises and features maintenance jacks for T1 monitoring and signal insertion. The Campus-RS CSU/DSX-1 (Channel Service Unit/Digital Service Crossover, Level 1) provides a cross-connection for “short haul” DS1 lines (up to 655 ft) and includes an alarm relay circuit. The CSU/DS1/DSX-1 cards meet all ANSI requirements for CI (customer installation) and NI (network interface) equipment. Both interface cards also provide line coding, line conditioning, equalization functions and support for local and remote (CO) loopback commands. The features of the CSU/DS1/DSX-1 interface cards reduce T1 deployment costs and can provide a “WAN gateway” connection for the local private enterprise network.
