PapriCAD is a CAD platform “Powered by AutoCAD ® OEM” which means it is inclusive of the CAD platform. PapriCAD has the same robust functionality as the existing 2D DESIGNER with the added convenience of having included a CAD platform in the software. So, while 2D DESIGNER applications require AutoCAD to be present on the desktop as an independent application, PapriCAD includes AutoCAD ® OEM as an integral part of this software package. The best part is PapriCAD has integrated both applications into one ready to use package. AutoCAD ® OEM is installed during the applications’ initial setup, making it available from the very first use without any extra effort on your part. When you acquire new PapriCAD software to work side-by-side with your existing 2D DESIGNER software, be assured that your data is fully compatible and portable between the two product lines. Any drawings created in PROCAD’s 2D DESIGNER product line can be seamlessly integrated into the new PapriCAD software, and vice-versa. All imported drawings will be fully compatible with the format of the PapriCAD software products. The list below shows each PapriCAD application’s equivalent in the 2D DESIGNER product line: PapriCAD Applications 2D DESIGNER Applications PapriCAD Interfacing with 2D DESIGNER Applications Guide 2D DESIGNER Migration Page 2 2D DESIGNER Migration Datafiles PapriCAD V1.1 applications (P&ID, Isometrics, Plans & Elevations and Electrics) operate essentially the same way as the previous 2D DESIGNER applications. However, PapriCAD V1.1 contains some features that make the applications much more powerful than previous version of the software. For 2D DESIGNER V2008 and V2010, you will need to: • Do nothing. You only need to map to your V2008/V2010 Datafiles during the installation. For 2D DESIGNER V2007 and 2D DESIGNER V2004 Professional users, you will need to: • Import your piping specifications into PapriCAD • Export the version 2004 Professional Projects or 2007 Standards and import them into the PapriCAD V1.1 Standards Manager Please refer to the Import a 2D DESIGNER 2004 Professional Project or 2007/2008/2010 Standard For 2D Designer V2004 Standard and earlier 2D DESIGNER users, you will need to: • Import specs from a previous version • Create a drawing standard, making use of existing settings Please refer to the New Standard Using 2002 or 2004 Project Settings The steps to complete these tasks are outline below in greater detail. Follow these steps carefully, and you’ll be up and running quickly. PapriCAD Interfacing with 2D DESIGNER Applications Guide 2D DESIGNER Migration Page 3 Drawing Compatibility PapriCAD saves drawings in the highly portable industry standard AutoCAD DWG file format. This allows the drawings to be opened and edited by many CAD software applications including 2D DESIGNER. There are 2 means of porting over 2D DESIGNER drawings, using the Standards Manager or using PapriCAD’s default project drawings folder. Using the Standards Manager to import drawings, please refer to the Standards Manager User Guide. Drawings produced in 2D DESIGNER can be placed in the PapriCAD default project drawing folder C:\ProgramData\PROCAD\PapriCAD 2D V1.1\Drawings and into corresponding standard project folders. The drawing manager will automatically pick up the 2D DESIGNER drawings that were placed in the default project drawing folders when any PapriCAD applications are being used. PapriCAD Interfacing with 2D DESIGNER Applications Guide Standards Manager Page 4 Standards Manager Similar to 2D DESIGNER, PapriCAD uses drawing standards to control settings for groups of drawings. The Standards Manager allows you to have different sets of settings for different standards. New Standard Using 2002 or 2004 Project Settings Users of earlier versions of any of the 2D DESIGNER applications may want to transfer their existing settings into the new Standards Manager. This allows for continuity in drawing appearance and decreases the time required to setup a new Standard. Settings can be imported during the creation of a new Standard. The older settings get imported on the first dialog box of the New Standard Wizard. To Export 2D DESIGNER 2004S Standard settings… Each of the 2D DESIGNER application needs to follow the exporting process. The following procedures need to be followed to export Standard settings using AutoISO as an example. 1. Run AutoISO and open an existing drawing using the Standard you want to export. 2. Click on the Configure System tab and click on General Settings icon PapriCAD Interfacing with 2D DESIGNER Applications Guide Standards Manager Page 5 3. This will open the General Settings dialog box appear. This is where all AutoISO settings are managed. You want to click the Write File button. This will export your AutoISO settings into a default file called IMPERIAL.LSP or METRIC.LSP depending on the working units of your project. 4. This file is saved in the default location c:\Program Files\PROCAD\2D DESIGNER V2004S\AutoISO\ 5. Multiple standards will need to be exported on their own following steps 1-4 and placed into their respective individual folders. 6. To import standard settings, please refer to the Import 2002 or 2004 Standard Setting section. PapriCAD Interfacing with 2D DESIGNER Applications Guide Standards Manager Page 6 To Import 2002 or 2004 Standards Settings… 1. Click the New Standard button. The New Standard Wizard dialog box opens. 2. Select the working and displayed units and enter a name for the new Standard. 3. Click the Use 2002 / 2004 Standard Settings check box. The paths will default to the newest software installation path. For example, if 2D DESIGNER V2004 Standard is installed, the paths will use the path for this installation. In the image above, 2D DESIGNER V2004S was detected. 4. If any of the settings are on the installation file, specifically any imperial.lsp, metric.lsp or BorderMap.ini, you will need to change the locations, respectively. 5. Click the Next button. Continue the installation as described in Creating a New PapriCAD Standard in the Standard Manager User Guide procedure.
