Nguyen Vy Nguyen BA 101 Instructor: Brandy Walton Is he a good manager? In order to properly assess the leadership and management skills of a manager, we first need to interact and work with that manager I had the opportunity to work in the cafeteria of PCC Rock Creek I work as a barista; I had the opportunity to interact the manager here through my work I have observed and will evaluate his management skills objectively through a manager's evaluation criteria The first is Administrative Skills In this section, I will evaluate him based on the following three aspects: Managing people, Managing resources, Showing technical competence People are always the central story of every business, in every age! In particular, in an era of turbulence, change and sprawl today, this story must be told, reviewed and even rewritten so that each business overcame difficulties and developed sustainably He had a way of managing people here fairly through a way of allocating positions, listening to the needs of employees For every employee, he gives the opportunity to choose our working hours It is a convenient thing for staff and students like me Before the start of the semester, we were given a choice of working hours In addition, he alternately changed positions so that we can experience and know where we did well If we really promote our strengths in any position, he will let us work in that position I appreciate this because everyone has their own interests and strengths in different areas This will make us more interested and more interested in working Besides, his Nguyen management of resources is based on the needs of the company and its employees He has improved mutual understanding and respect on the basis of identifying and recognizing the values and needs of our employees through communication He recognized and shared our values and accomplishments through the profits we made For example, when I took over the shift that morning, the sales increased, and he did recognition and compliments about my work Secondly, evaluate his communication skills Through what I have observed, he is capable of receiving the emotions, attitudes, and motivations of our employees through our words and actions He communicated clear, accurate, complete and effective information to each of our employees Specifically, every time we need to prepare for events in the school, he has made a necessary list of events, things to prepare, the content of events, and the requirements of the customers clearly Clear and easy to understand for us Every time an order was issued by a superior, he conveyed it correctly with a convincing explanation so that we could better understand the order and comply better One point I found was that he needed to cultivate cultural resources Our working environment consists of many people from many countries, resulting in many different cultures He did not understand the specifics of each culture so sometimes he did not understand us Sometimes because of disagreements about how to communicate should lead to misunderstandings For example, as I am Asian, we are very important to the way we communicate, speak intonation based on our age Sometimes the elderly is also from Asia, they feel disrespectful when he talks without the personal pronouns to Nguyen them I think that when he cultivates his knowledge of many cultures, he will improve his communication skills The general view is that he realized that people are an important element of the business, so the way he manages and treats employees fairly I realized that every employee respected and appreciated him Since then, each person's productivity has increased, leading to increased sales for businesses In an article written by Margaret Ann Cole -Managing Director at Accenture Talent and Organization practice, leader of HR Transformation practice for North America, Southeast T&O, entitled "The Human Factor Is Key To Business Success In The Digital Age" I have read that "While enhanced processes and new technologies can help, there's no substitute for people Humans bring a unique skill set that a machine cannot against persistent disruption." Conflict is inevitable in every business Therefore, an enterprise manager needs to know how to resolve conflicts appropriately When conflicts occurred at work, he resolved them well Specifically, when a conflict occurs at work, the first thing he will give the two parties time to rest He will then proceed to speak with both parties From there he will find the cause, and workarounds to benefit both sides What he always gives first is reconciliation for both sides With such a management, almost every conflict is resolved smoothly With the above solution, we can see that he has found the root problem of the conflict From there he will give solutions for both sides to benefit Based on a Human Resource of The University of Oklahoma about the Cause of Conflict, there are many causes and reasons for conflict in the work environment such as poor communication, different values, different interests, scarce resources, personality clashes, and poor performance Nguyen He can solve problems thoughtfully and carefully According to what I observed, the first thing he did was to find out what the problem would be In one of my conversations with him, I asked him how to identify what the problem was He told me to answer the following questions to find the problem like "what if ?, assuming this doesn't work ?, or you don't should waste time and energy in solving if it is likely to disappear on its own or not matter.? And what he emphasizes here is "Not all problems that affect you are due to you create or force you to solve it "I understand that if he does not have the authority or power to solve it, it is best to pass the problem on to someone else who can solve it better For example, when we have a special order for a specific event, he will be the one who takes responsibility for the order, but when it comes to the standard stage he will hand it over to someone who knows better about him the food requested in the order then he will check if the solution is good and has bad effects No In my opinion, this job may take more time but actually it will increase the quality and better results if you just it without understanding the main problem of the job assigned Along with that, he will have a more specific strategy and vision for each customer order This helps us to recognize my influence, the work I will affect the results of work, customers' orders Overall, I greatly appreciate his management skills After I worked for him, I learned more management skills by observing what he did, and he shared with me “Contrary to the opinion of many people, leaders are not born Leaders are made, and they are made by effort and hard work ” As we know, competence is not born innate Leaders also need to make efforts to learn and train through the experiences they experience It is not easy to become a good leader "If you want to Nguyen give your business a good start toward success, it has to start with leadership, and leadership has to start with you."
