Language focus:  Vocabulary: Hi Hello Nice to meet you  Sentence pattern: Hi Hello. I’m + name. Hi Hello, + name. I’m + another name. 3. Resources: Students: Ss’ book, Teacher: textbook, recording, radio, fresh cards, puppets,… . II.PROCEDURE Steps Learning activities Language focus Modes 1. Warm up (3 mins) Display Ss’ drawing and play game back to back Whole class 2.Look, listen and repeat. (8 mins) Tell Ss that they are going to practise introducing themselves and responding to the introduction. Describe the picture by using the questions “ Who’s he?”; “Who’s she?”; “Where are they?”; “What are they doing?”. Explain what happen in the first picture: Mai and Nam introduce themselves. Have Ss repeat the text a few times. Repeat the procedure with the second picture Listen to the tape and say along. Whole class Whole class ; half, pairs 3. Point and say. (10 mins) Tell Ss that they are going to practise saying HelloHi. I’m + name and responding to the greeting Point to the pictures and elicit hisher name Teach new words. Use a poster or two character puppets to present the situation and new language. Listen and repeat the sentence patterns a few times Model. Point to picture a and say “ Hello. I’m Miss Hien” and have Ss to be Nam to respond. Practise . Check as a class Note: Ss say Hello to their teachers or adults and Hi to their peers. + I’m = I am Hi Hello. Nice to meet you HiHello. (12 mins) Tell Ss that they are going to practise more with their friends Point to each character eliciting the name and ask Ss to guess what the boys would say to greet each other. Fill the speech bubbles with the correct phrase provied by Ss. Then have them to repeat the sentences in the bubbles a few times before letting them practise freely.
