Date of teaching: 2008………… Period 5 Unit one: A day in the life of… Lesson 4: Writing A. Aims: - To help ss write a narrative. - Writing the story about hotel fire, review the past simple tense. B. Objectives - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to understanding and write the story about hotel fire. C. Teaching aids Textbook and picture. D. Procedure Teacher s activities’ Students activities’ I. Warm up + Greeting. + Checking attendance. - Asks sts some questions and calls some sts answer them. Questions 1. Have you ever heard a frighten story/ an interesting story? 2. When did it happen? 3. Where did it happen? 4. How did you feel about that? T says: Today we will study writing“ about a frighten story. Please open your book at page 17 .” - Writes date and lesson on the blackboard. - Greeting. - The monitor answers. - Listen to the teacher’s questions and answer. Answers 1. Yes, I have. / No, I haven t.’ 2. When I was young. 3. At my house / in my school… 4. It made me frighten / bored… II. While-writing TASK 3 -Lets sts use the prompts to build up a narrative about a hotel fire. - Goes around the class and helps students. - Give a big paper and divides the class into small groups. Asks them to write the story on the big paper. - Collects the paper and corrects, gives comment the 2 of them. Answer Last year, I spent my summer holiday at a seaside town. The hotel was modern and comfortable. I had a wonderful holiday until the fire. Aims: • Pronunciation: Short vowel /i/ Long vowel /i:/ • Grammar and vocabulary: The present simple Adverbs of frequency The past simple tense B. Objectives By the end of the lesson, students will be able to pronounce 2 vowels /I/ and /i: / correctly. They will be able to practice with the present simple, adverbs of frequency, and the past simple tense. C. Teaching aids The tape, radio, and textbook. D. Procedure Teacher s activities’ Students activities’ I. Warm up + Greeting. + Checking attendance. - Hangs up the picture which drawn a sheep and a ship on the blackboard. - Asks sts to look at it and complete the sentence. Calls 2 sts to complete the sentence. E.g.: I see a on the .………… ………… - Checks to the class. - Gives feedback. I see a sheep on the ship. - Reads this sentence and explains the difference between 2 words. • Sheep /∫i:p/ (n) has got a long vowel /i:/ • Ship / ∫Ip/ (n) has got a short vowel /I/ - Now please open your book at page 19. Today we will lear how to pronounce 2 vowels /I/ and /i: / exactly. - Writes date and lesson on the blackboard. - Greeting. - The monitor answers. - Look at it and complete the sentence. II. Presentation 1. Warm up + Greeting. + Checking attendance. - Hangs up a picture (in which) drawn about pupil’s break time. Asks sts some questions and asks them to answer. Questions 1. Where are they? 2.
