Unit2 : CULTURAL DEVERSITY Date of teaching : 20, 9, 2008 Period:5 Section: Language focus Class: 12A6,7,8,9,10 I AMIS AND OBJECTIVES :  Language content: - Vocabulary: Review the previous knowledge. - To help the students to distinguish the sounds / t/ , / d/ and /id/ in pronuciation of the – ed ending sound. - To revise the use of some tenses Language function: - To enable the students pronounce the words and sentence containing these sounds correctly. - To help Ss use the tenses aboves correctly  Educational aim : - To help Ss get experiences from others in doing multiple choice exercises - Skill : Integrated skills : listening- speaking-reading-writing II. TEACHER AND STUDENTS’ PREPARATION: 1. Method : Communicative Approach. 2. Techniques: Repetition, explanation, group work, asking – answering. 3. Materials needed : Textbook, pictures, real thing. 4 Students’ preparation : Review the points of grammar 5 Previous exercises: III. PROCEDURE IN CLASS. 1. Stabilization : (2ms) a. Warm – up : Greetings. b. Checking absence : Who’s absent today ? 2. Checking up previous knowledge: Time needed: (5ms) 1. questions . 3. Presentation of the new material : Time Teacher’s activities Student’s activities The content of the lesson 3ms 1 Warm up: Game : Sound classifying - Hanngs on a flipchart with the verbs and the table below : wash/ wait/ waste/ cause/ ask/ phone/ dance/ end/ stop/ watch/ arrange/ open /t/ /d/ /id/ .Tells Ss they are going to work in pairs to write the past tense of the verbs in the correct patrs of T- whole class Work in pairs Unit 2 : CULTURAL DEVERSITY Period5: Section : Language focus 5ms 1 the table according to the pronuciation of the –ed ending sounds. Calls on some Ss to go to the board writing the verbs in the right column. Checks with the whole class .2Activity1 : Asks Ss to look at the chart and elicits the pronunciation of the – ed ending sound from Ss 1. –ed ending sound is pronounced /t/ when the verbs end with the sounds / k/ /p/ / / ,/ / /f/ or /s/ 2. –ed ending sound is pronounced /t/ when the verbs end with the sounds /t/ or /d/ 3. ––ed ending sound is pronounced /t/ when the verbs end with all sounds except those in 1 ans2 - T demonstrates the sounds /t / and / d / and /id/ by pronouncing them clearly and slowly. - T helps Ss to distinguish these sounds. - T reads the sounds and asks them to repeat. - T calls on some Ss to repeat the sounds in front of the class. - T asks Ss to work in pairs and practice the sentences. - T corrects mispronuncication. Activity 2: Grammar : Asks Ss to recall the use of The simple past, The past progressive and The present perfect.
