Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: - greet and self-introduce - develop speaking skill III. Teaching procedure: - 1 - =============================================================== - 2 - Time Steps/Activities Work arrangement 1.Warm up: Teacher: - Greet class. - Introduce name : using “Hello.I’m + name” - Introduce new subject. Ss: - Greet teacher. 2.New lesson: *PRESENTATION. Activity 1 : Look,listen and repeat. • Teacher:- Have Ss turn their book page 6. - Ask Ss the names of the characters and what they say. - Explain the difference between Hi and Hello. + Hi is very formal. Ss can use with friends but not withan adult,e.g. a teacher. + Hello is also informal and friendly but more formal than Hi. It can be used with teachers and other adults. - Show the picture and elecit the characters in the picture an what they are saying. - Let Ss listen and repeat the new words, sentences after the teacher. - Ask Ss to write down. - Call some Ss to read the new words, sentences before te class. • Ss:- Look at the pictures and listen. - Listen carefully and repeat. Write down. Read aloud. *PRACTICE. Activity 2 : Point and say. Teacher:- Have Ss look at the pictures. Ask them to identify the chara- Total physics response (TPR). • cters in the pictures. - Ask Ss repeat the phrases a few times. - Call on a pair and ask them to pretend to be Nam and Mai to act out the greeting exchange. - Call on more pair to act out Miss Hien and Nam, following the same way with Mai and Quan. Check pronunciation. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. • Ss: Look at the pictures and identify the characters in the pictures. - Practise in pairs. Activity 3 : Let’s talk. • Teacher:- Have Ss look at the pictures. Ask them identify the characters in the pictures. - Tell them that they are going to practise greeting and self- introducing. - Call on a pair to desmonstrate at the front of the class. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. • Ss:- Look at the pictures and identify the characters in the pictures. Teaching aids: - Teacher’s aids: student’s and teacher’s book, word cards, pictures, CD, cassette - Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Teaching procedure: - 9 - =============================================================== - 10 - Time Steps/Activities Work arrangement 1. Warm- up • Teacher: Explain the way to play Hang man game. - Divide the class into 3 groups. - Find the winner • Ss: Ask Ss to find the similarity of the words. 1._ _ _ _ ( 4 letters ) 2._ _ _ _ _ ( 5 letters ) 3._ _ _ _ ( 5 letters ) 4._ _ _ _ _ ( 5 letters ) 2. New lesson: *PRESENTATION. Activity 1: Look, Listen and repeat • Teacher: - Ask ss look at the picture and listen to the dialogue in their books. - Tell them that they are going to practise introducing themselves and responding to the introduction( vietnamese). - Point to the P1 and Ask Ss look at the text in speech bubbles.Use a poster or two character puppets to present the situation. - Explain the meaning of the language practised: Name, What, Is, My, Your. Note: Name’s = name is What’s= What is - Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for Ss to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. Repeat the step a few times. • Ss: - Practice with Ss. - Devide the class into 2 groups. Ask Ss practice in pairs. - Go round and check Ss can repeat and understand the dialogue. Activity 2: Point and say • Teacher: Have Ss look at Pictures. Ask them to identify the characters in the pictures. Use flashcards to teach the question and answer in the speech bubbles. Have Ss repeat the phrases a few times. Peter: What’s your name? Phong: My name’s Phong. - Tell Ss that they are going to practise asking and answering questions about one’s name - Point to each character in the picture and elicit his/her name and the words to fill the gaSs. - Write the whole sentences on the board. • Ss: Have Ss repeat the sentences a few times. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Ask Ss work in pairs. - Call some pairs practice in front of the class. - Check ss’ mistake when necessary. - Model: Call on a pair and ask them to pretend to be the characters to act out the exchange. Repeat the step but this time have the pair swap their parts. Call on one more pair to act out as Nga and Phong, following the same way with Nam and Mai. Have the class repeat all the phrases in this section. - Pairwork. Ss practise in pairs. Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation (stress, assimilation of sounds and intonation), and offer help when necessary.
