He was a pilot in United States Navy from 1949 to 1952. Neil Armstrong received his B. S from Purdue University in 1955. In 1962, he joined the NASA astronaut program. On 20 th July, 1969, he became the first human to step on the Moon’s surface. He received his M.S from the University of Southern California in 1970. He resigned from NASA a year later. From 1971 to 1979, Neil Armstrong taught in the University of Cincinnati.
