Keys: 1. the moon 2. 1987 3.the Ming Dynasty 4.200 5. 200B.C 6. 6,000km 7. 11 meters 8. stones Task 2: Listen and fill in the gaps THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA The Great Wall of China, which is said to be visible from the moon, winds (1)up and down across deserts, grasslands and mountains of 5 provinces. It is considered one - The class answer - T leads in the lesson - T sticks picture on the board - Ss look at the picture and answer the questions. - T asks Ss to give the meaning of the words. T explains some difficult words. Ss listen and repeat. - T explains task 1 and ask Ss to read the questions carefully - T plays the tape twice and ask Ss to do the task - T asks Ss to exchange their answers with their friends - T plays the tape one more time and asks Ss to check the answers - Ss give the answers - T gives feedback - T lets Ss read the sentences carefully and have the guess of the 12’ of the greatest man-made wonders in the world thanks to its (2) magnificence and (3) significance. In 1987, the Great Wall was listed as a World Heritage by UNESCO. The Great Wall as we see today was mostly (4) built during the Ming Dynasty for defense purposes. It started in (5) 1368 and took 200 years to complete. Some parts of the wall are much older and go back to around 200 B.C. It (6) stretches for about 6,000 km from east to west. The wall is about 11 meters high and a stone roadway runs along the top of it. The Great Wall is a (7) symbol of the Chinese nation through out history. If you prefer to see the wall in a relatively natural state, you’d better go to (8) northwest of Beijing. This part of the wall is the best choice for it is still in its original state. A visit to the Great Wall will certainly bring tourists great (9) excitement in each step of the wall. IV. Post- listening Task 3: Listen to the passage again and answer the following questions.(10 mn). 1. When did the ancient Chinese start building the Great Wall? 2.
