1 The reasons for choosing the place for internship

After studying at Hanoi University of Business and Technology, with theassignment and permission of the University, I searched for companies forinternship with the desire to be completed and applied to actually the learnedknowledge.

After finding out, I know that Phong Lan Development and ServicesTrading Company Limited is operating in the field of wholesale of othermachinery, equipment, and spare parts The company is the first choice ofcustomers for wholesale office machinery, equipment, and spare parts: copiers,projectors, projectors, paper shredders, fax machines, etc Because of its full anddiversity in the field of machinery and equipment, as well as services to meet allcustomer requirements, always expanding product categories according totrends The company also has policies to find talents, highly qualified andskilled employees The company also constantly retrains the contingent ofemployees to improve the quality of the workforce both professionally as well asthe sense, responsibility and sense of discipline Constantly improve businessoperations in the areas in which the company is operating in order to maximizeprofits to bring stable revenue for businesses.

While having internship in Phong Lan Development and Services TradingCompany Limited, I had a great chance to practice business English as well asother professional skills that I have been studying for four years at Hanoiuniversity of Business and Technology In my opinion, I highly appreciate somecompulsory subjects By the knowledge and skills, I have learned for the pastmore three years, it seems quite easy for me to write emails, translatedocuments, advise customers, etc With my excellent performance in thelanguage aspects, the leader, and employees at Phong Lan Development andServices Trading Company Limited highly appreciate the quality of training ofHanoi University of Business and Technology.

2 Useful knowledge, skills and attitude gained during the internship

The internship provides a good period for the last-year students like me totake the very first step into the working world where all of their theoreticalknowledge can be put into practice By experiencing in a real workingenvironment, I have accumulated a lot of not only lessons but skills; not onlyuseful knowledge but also the respective experience such as:

- Acquiring, improving, and enhancing the skills of the profession,communication, office, teamwork, and negotiation.

- Learning the way to adapt to new work, new working style, and newworking environment so that become more matured and confident to get thejob done.

- Recognizing the importance of building up good relationships withcolleagues, between a boss and employees, between employees and customers inorder to attract and retain highly performed employees and potential customers.

- Accumulating the necessary skills in dealing with unexpected problemson my own.

During my time working in Phong Lan Development and ServicesTrading Company Limited, I have realized that there are some differencesbetween the lesson and the reality.

Furthermore, the staff should always improve and enhance theircommunication skills and competence so that they can meet all the customers’demands For example, in case of both using and after using company’s product,there are some fastidious customers, and if I don’t seize the customerpsychology according to the situation I used the wrong speaking way, shewould be angry or unsatisfied then she would complain about our services to mymanager immediately It means that you always need to widen your knowledge,improve your skills, and language competence Therefore, it is necessary for anystudent to accumulate soft skills from a variety of sources apart from printedbooks, especially the Internet; it is extremely convenient for them to collectinformation on any subject Social networks and forums can also be used as veryeffective tools for exchanging and sharing information and experience.

Besides, students should learn from observation from the people aroundthem Additionally, students can consult their professors or even their relatives,friends, or acquaintances on specific issues Moreover, instead of waiting untilthe compulsory internship to experience a real working environment, studentscan find a part-time job from the first of the second year at university.
