11 The world would be better with one language From my point of view, the world wouldn't be better if all of people around the world spoke the same language On the positive side, while i concede that when the world uses a common language, everyone will be able to communicate and exchange information with each other There is no language barrier, people will find it much easier to go abroad, no misunderstandings, no weekend language lessons, no dubbing foreign movie subtitles I concur that if the world uses the same language, how will the cultural identity of each country continue to be maintained or erased? Language is not simply a means of communication Language is also identity We know that people communicate more than ideas in their own language, they communicate who they are, what they believe, and where they come from which sets them apart from other people On the other hand, foreign teachers, translators, or language-related professionals, will lose their jobs if the global language is universal As long as people aspire to have a distinct identity and form different groups, the same aspirations will motivate them to wave different flags, cheer for different teams, listen to different music different and have different cultures, they will continue to have different languages.
