TEXT 3 THE BURGEONING POPULATION GROWTH IS POSING NUMEROUS ACHING MATTERS The rapid population growth is exacerbating the hardsolving problems for human beings, including ecological and environmental destruction, natural resources exhaustion, food scarcity, poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, and spreading dangerous infectious diseases. Population now is the matter of great concern in many countries as it directly affects their socioeconomic development. In the current context, with the aim of sustainable economic development, countries should attach special importance to the population issues, especially human resource training and development. According to the World Bank (WB), Asia Pacific currently accounts for more than half of the population, but only occupies a quarter of the Gross National Product (GDP) of the whole world. In addition, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has shown that the number of people living below the poverty line now is 49% of South Asia’s population and 30% of the world population.
