Note If necessary, set your computer so that it starts from the hard disk and then from the CD-ROM drive Configure the hard disk as follows: Drive C: GB formatted as FAT Drive D: GB formatted as FAT To install Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Advanced Server by using an answer file Start the computer by using the MS-DOS® system disk Insert the Trainer Materials compact disc into the CD-ROM drive Copy the London.txt file from the Manual folder on the Trainer Materials compact disc to the root of drive C Select a number from through to be used as your classroom number Note Unless the classrooms on your network are isolated from one another, you must choose a unique network number for each classroom to avoid possible IP address conflicts This number will also be used as the third octet in your classroom IP addresses For example, if you select the number 4, the IP address for the instructor computer will be 192.168.4.200 Important If you use a number other than 1, you must modify the DNSServerSearchOrder and IPAddress entries at the bottom of the London.txt file on drive C by changing the third octet in the IP address for each entry to match the number that you selected Do not make any other changes to the answer file Insert the Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server compact disc into the CD-ROM drive 2 Manual Classroom Setup Guide At a command prompt, type x:\i386\winnt /s:x:\i386 /u:c:\london.txt (where x is the letter assigned to the CD-ROM drive), and then press ENTER After Setup begins, remove any disk from the floppy disk drive When the installation of Windows 2000 Advanced Server is complete, proceed to the Microsoft Active Directory™ Installation section of this guide Manual Classroom Setup Guide Instructor Computer Setup (London) Without Using an Answer File Use the following instructions to set up the instructor computer manually without using an answer file To set up the hardware Set up the hardware according to the manufacturer’s instructions (Refer to the hardware requirements.) Note If necessary, set your computer so that it starts from the hard disk and then from the CD-ROM drive Configure the hard disk as follows: Drive C: GB formatted as FAT Drive D: GB formatted as FAT To begin text-mode Setup of Windows 2000 Advanced Server Insert the Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server compact disc into the CD-ROM drive Note If your computer can start from the CD-ROM drive, restart the computer If the Press any key to boot from CD message appears, press SPACEBAR, and then proceed to step Start the computer by using the MS-DOS system disk At a command prompt, type x:\i386\winnt /s:x:\i386 (where x is the letter assigned to the CD-ROM drive), and then press ENTER When Setup indicates that the MS-DOS portion of Setup is complete, remove any disk from the floppy disk drive, and then press ENTER On the Setup Notification screen, press ENTER On the Welcome to Setup screen, press ENTER When the Windows 2000 Licensing Agreement appears, press F8 to accept the licensing terms Setup displays a list of existing partitions and unpartitioned space In the list of existing partitions, press ENTER to select C: FAT Select Convert the partition to NTFS, and then press ENTER Press C to convert the drive to the NTFS file system Setup examines the hard disk and then copies files to the Windows 2000 installation folders When Setup prompts you to restart the computer, leave the compact disc in the CD-ROM drive The computer restarts Setup converts drive C to NTFS, and then the computer restarts a second time 4 Manual Classroom Setup Guide To begin GUI-mode Setup of Windows 2000 Advanced Server When the Windows 2000 Server Setup wizard appears, click Next or wait for seconds to continue The Installing Devices page appears, informing you to wait while Setup detects and installs devices On the Regional Settings page, click Next On the Personalize Your Software page, in the Name box, type London In the Organization box, type Northwind Traders and then click Next On the Your Product Key page, type RBDC9 VTRC8 D7972 J97JY PRVMG for the Product Key, and then click Next On the Licensing Modes page, in the Number of concurrent connections box, type 50 and then click Next On the Computer Name and Administrator Password page, in the Computer Name box, type London In the Administrator password and Confirm password boxes, type password and then click Next On the Windows 2000 Components page, click Networking Services, and then click Details In the Networking Services dialog box, select the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) check box, click OK, and then click Next On the Date and Time Settings page, adjust the date, time, and time zone on your computer, and then click Next The Networking Settings page appears, informing you that Windows 2000 is installing networking components and then prompting you to choose typical or custom network settings Click Custom settings, and then click Next On the Networking Components page, open the Properties dialog box for Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box, click Use the following IP address In the IP address box, type 192.168.x.200 (where x is the classroom number) Note Unless the classrooms on your network are isolated from one another, you must choose a unique network number for each classroom to avoid possible IP address conflicts Press TAB to display the default subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 Click OK, and then click Next Manual Classroom Setup Guide On the Workgroup or Computer Domain page, click Next to join the default workgroup The Installing Components page appears, informing you that Setup is installing Windows 2000 components The Performing Final Tasks page appears, informing you that Setup is completing a final set of tasks On the Completing the Windows 2000 Setup Wizard page, click Finish The computer restarts Active Directory Installation on the Instructor Computer (London) Use the following instructions to install Active Directory on the instructor computer To install Active Directory Log on as Administrator with a password of password In the Windows 2000 Configure Your Server wizard, click I will configure this server later, and then click Next Clear the Show this screen at startup check box, and then close the wizard Run Dcpromo.exe to start the Active Directory Installation wizard, and then click Next Complete the Active Directory Installation wizard by using the information in the following table On this wizard page Do this Domain Controller Type Verify that Domain controller for a new domain is selected Create Tree or Child Domain Verify that Create a new domain tree is selected Create or Join Forest Verify that Create a new forest of domain trees is selected New Domain Name Type nwtraders.msft NetBIOS Domain Name Verify that NWTRADERS appears Database and Log Locations Leave as default Shared System Volume Leave as default Configure DNS Verify that Yes, install and configure DNS on this computer (recommended) is selected Permissions Leave as default Directory Services Restore Modes Type password in the Password box, and then type password in the Confirm password box Summary Click Next 6 Manual Classroom Setup Guide On the Completing the Active Directory Installation Wizard page, click Finish A message box appears, prompting you to restart the computer so that the changes that you made can take effect Click Restart Now Post-Installation Tasks for the Instructor Computer (London) Use the following instructions to complete the setup of the instructor computer after the installation of Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Active Directory is complete To copy courseware files and install course-related applications Log on as Administrator with a password of password Create the following folders at the root of drive C: Tools Pptview Setup\Images Reskit Insert the Trainer Materials compact disc into the CD-ROM drive, and then copy the contents of the Tools folder on the compact disc to C:\Tools Copy the contents of the Pptview folder on the compact disc to C:\Pptview Copy the contents of the Setup\Images folder on the compact disc to C:\Setup\Images Insert the Windows 2000 Advanced Server compact disc into the CD-ROM drive, and then copy the contents of the Support\Tools folder on the compact disc to C:\Reskit To install the Microsoft Official Curriculum fonts, double-click Mocfonts.msi in the C:\Tools folder To properly set folder names for the Microsoft PowerPoint® Viewer, doubleclick Ppt_name.vbs in the C:\Pptview folder To install the PowerPoint Viewer, double-click Pptview.msi in the C:\Pptview folder To copy the PowerPoint slides to the hard disk and to create Start menu shortcuts for each presentation, double-click 2071_ppt.msi in the C:\Tools folder To create the reverse look up zone, double-click Reverse.vbs in the C:\Tools folder To allow the forward lookup zone to accept dynamic updates, double-click Dnscon.cmd in the C:\Tools folder To switch the nwtraders.msft domain to native mode, double-click Native.vbs in the C:\Tools folder To create custom organizational units and user accounts in Active Directory, double-click Adsetup.vbs in the C:\Tools folder Manual Classroom Setup Guide To copy the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 installation files to drive D, insert the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 compact disc into your compact disc drive, and then double-click Sql.vbs in the C:\Tools folder To install Microsoft SQL Server 2000, double-click Sql_ent.cmd in the C:\Tools folder When the installation of SQL Server is finished restart the computer To install the lab files for course SQL2071a, double-click labfiles.exe in the C:\Setup folder To install the batch files for course SQL2071a, double-click batches.exe in the C:\Setup folder To install the library database, double-click Bldlib.cmd in the C:\Moc\2071a\batches\library folder To modify the Northwind database, double-click nwind.cmd in the C:\setup folder Restart the computer To configure the DHCP server settings Locate the appropriate file for your classroom number in C:\Tools\DHCP For example, if the classroom number is (and the IP address of London is 192.168.1.200), then locate the Dhcp1.txt file Copy the Dhcpx.txt file (where x is the classroom number) from the C:\Tools\DHCP folder to the C:\Tools folder Rename the Dhcpx.txt file as Setdhcp.cmd In C:\Tools, double-click Setdhcp.cmd Close any open windows, and then log off To set the wallpaper for the London computer Right-click the desktop, and then click Properties In the Display Properties dialog box, on the Background tab, click Browse In the Browse dialog box, open the C:\Setup\Images folder, click Lon, and then click Open In the Display Properties dialog box, click OK Important To verify that the first instructor computer is set up correctly, refer to the Classroom Setup Checklist section in the Classroom Setup Guide 8 Manual Classroom Setup Guide Student Computer Setup by Using an Answer File Use the following instructions to set up the student computers manually by using an unattended setup answer file This file, Student.txt, is located in the Manual folder on the Trainer Materials compact disc To set up the hardware Set up the hardware according to the manufacturer’s instructions (Refer to the hardware requirements.) Note If necessary, set your computer so that it starts from the hard disk and then from the CD-ROM drive Configure the hard disk as follows: Drive C: GB formatted as FAT Drive D: GB formatted as FAT To install Windows 2000 Advanced Server by using an answer file Start the computer by using the MS-DOS system disk Insert the Trainer Materials compact disc into the CD-ROM drive Copy the Student.txt and Unattend.udf files from the Manual folder on the Trainer Materials compact disc to the root of drive C Insert the Windows 2000 Advanced Server compact disc into the CD-ROM drive At a command prompt, type x:\i386\winnt /s:x:\i386 /u:c:\student.txt /udf:computer_name,c:\unattend.udf (where x is the letter assigned to the CD-ROM drive and computer_name is the name of the student computer that you are setting up) For example, if your compact disc is drive E and you are setting up the Khartoum computer, type the following: e:\i386\winnt /s:e:\i386 /u:c:\student.txt /udf:Khartoum,c:\unattend.udf Press ENTER After Setup begins, remove any disk from the floppy disk drive When installation is complete, proceed to the Post-Installation Tasks for the Student Computers section of this guide Manual Classroom Setup Guide Student Computer Setup Without Using an Answer File Use the following instructions to set up the student computers manually without using an unattended setup answer file To set up the hardware Set up the hardware according to the manufacturer’s instructions (Refer to the hardware requirements.) Sqladminx user account (where x represents the computer number) to the local administrator’s group, double-click Permiss.cmd in the C:\Tools folder To add the computer to the nwtraders.msft domain Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties In the System Properties dialog box, on the Network Identification tab, click Properties Under Member of, click Domain, type nwtraders.msft and then click OK In the Domain Username And Password dialog box, in the Name box, type Administrator In the Password box, type password and then click OK In the Network Identification message box, click OK, and then click OK again Click OK to close the System Properties dialog box, and then in the System Settings Change message box, click Yes to restart the computer Log on to the domain as Sqladminx with a password of password To install Microsoft SQL Server 2000, double-click Sql_ent.cmd in the C:\Tools folder When the SQL installation is complete restart the computer To install the lab files for
