Cụm từ chỉ lý do là những cụm từ dùng để diễn tả lý do của một hành động nào đó và thường bắt đầu bằng các từ sau: because of, due to, hoặc owing to. Cả 3 từ này đều có nghĩa là vì, do, bởi vì. Mệnh đề trạng ngữ chỉ lí do là một mệnh đề phụ diễn tả lí do hoặc nguyên nhân của một hành động nào đó xảy ra trong mệnh đề chính.
