GIÁO ÁN DỰ THI DẠY HỌC THEO CHỦ ĐỀ TÍCH HỢP DÀNH CHO GIÁO VIÊN THPT NĂM HỌC 2013 – 2014 TÊN BÀI UNIT – UNDERSEA WORLD PERIOD 58 – LESSON 1: READING GIÁO VIÊN: - THÂN THỊ NGỌC THỦY - MAI THU GIANG - VŨ THỊ KIM THỦY ĐƠN VỊ: TRƯỜNG THPT CHUYÊN BẮC GIANG – TỈNH BẮC GIANG Bắc Giang, tháng 12 năm 2013 UNIT – UNDERSEA WORLD Period 58: LESSON – READING I - - Aims Objectives Students will read a passage about the life undersea world (marine life) By the end of the lesson, Ss understand about the topic and related things by doing some reading comprehensions such as gap-filling, question answering and summarizing the passage With the knowledge about the oceans in the world (from geography subject), about marine life (from biography subject), summarizing a passage skills (from literature subject) and some lesson about environment protection (from civil education subject), students have to prepare the lesson before the class as asked so that they will understand the lesson better Moreover, they have to work in groups to prepare some talks about the topic lesson to present in front of the class Teaching aids A world map; some pictures about marine life; a clip introducing marine life to the students Projector, sub-boards, and a laptop II Procedures Teacher’s activities A Organization - Greeting - Asking some questions to wake Ss up B Warm-up - Let Ss play a small crossword game to find out the topic of the lesson - Introduce the game: A crossword game with cross words and key word (7 letters) which is related to the topic of the lesson - Set the game: divide the class into groups namely Sharks and Dolphins groups take turns to choose the number, answer the questions behind and find out key letters which make key words After Students’ activities - Greeting Answer T’s questions to get ready for the lesson - Listen carefully and join the game actively questions, Ss can guess the key words Each correct answer is given 10 points, the correct key word 30 points The group who own the biggest mark will win the game  Cross words: Which continent is Vietnam in? -> Asia Finding Nemo is a _ film -> cartoon It is between four and six -> five EU stands for _ Union -> European Which continent is the neighbor of Asia? -> Africa  Key word: PACIFIC (the name of one ocean in the world )  Prize: a short film about marine life (Finding Nemo cartoon)  Lead in: You’ve just seen some kinds of animals which live undersea world Our lesson today is about oceans in the world and marine life- plants and animals undersea world C New lesson UNIT – UNDERSEA WORLD Period 58 – Lesson – Reading I Before you read The oceans and marine life Activity 1: - Let Ss introduce some knowledge of the oceans in the world prepared at home before the class which includes some important information learnt from geography Activity 2: - Check Ss’ listening by asking them to label the names of oceans in the world map and then give Vietnamese names of these Activity 3: - Let Ss study something about marine life through the cartoon Finding Nemo and then one small task given in the book Ask Ss to call out the name of given - Listen and get ready for the new lesson - Write the lesson - St gives a talk in front of the class while others listen - Do as asked orally - St write the names of the given animals on the board Others check together - - Listen carefully to the recording for pronunciation Read in silence once Take note vocabulary, give the meaning of the words you have animals in some pictures Call out St to write on the board for checking together  Transition: We’ll study more about these in the reading passage The reading passage - Let Ss listen to the recording of the reading passage - Ask Ss to read through the passage in silence once Vocabulary - Elicit some vocabulary by various way • divide (into) E.g: He divides his stamp collections into three groups • gulf (n) - picture • bay (n) - picture • challenge (v/n) • submarine (n) - picture • investigate (v) • marine (adj.) • independently (adv.) >< dependently (adv) • oversized (adj.) • biodiversity (n) • be at sta • ke = be at risk = be in danger E.g: A lot of wild animals are now at stake - Make Ss read the vocabulary in chorus, and then call out some Ss to read aloud individually Checking vocabulary - Check Ss’ understanding and remembering words by asking them to a small task * Give English equivalents for the following Vietnamese words thử thách tàu ngầm đa dạng sinh học có kích thước lớn bị đe dọa điều tra, khám phá looked up in your dictionary; ask and answer questions then write the answers on the sub-boards (2 for each group) - Check by reading the answers on the board with the expected answers on the screen Ask Ss for some evidence if need Expected answer: 75% They that by using modern devices They bring samples to the scientists to study We can learn about the temperature, depth, and the marine population They are : + the bottom depending + current independing + tiny organism - Work in groups Understand the questions and as asked Hang the sub-boards on the big board for checking together - Take note after checking together - Work individually to complete the summary Give the answer orally Take note - Marine life would be at stake/ at risk/ in danger - - - III After you read Complete the summary of the reading passage by filling each blank with a word or phrase given Help Ss recall how to summarize a passage which they have studied with literature subject (pick out main idea, using some key words) Let Ss the task individually and invite their answers orally; show the answers on the screen Expected answer: three-quarters mysterious modern discoveries biodiversity huge plants and animals closely connected Discussion Instruct Ss to discuss about undersea world with aspects: threats to the undersea world and solutions Suggest some threats by showing pictures and ask Ss for the solutions which they can learn from the Internet, TV or any kinds of mass media and the subject of civil education as well Undersea world threats solutions - Prepare and join the discussion - Raise ideas discussion - Take note and remember to homework to support the  We should learn all we can know about the oceans and marine life We should choose seafood responsibly   - The governments should pass law to prohibit some activities such as fish hunting Give a conclusion of the lesson IV Homework - Set the homework for Ss and finish the lesson
