Unit 3 At home Lesson 1 : Getting started Listen and read A/ Aims and Objectives : By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to understand the dialogue and use modal verbs to talk about the housework . B / Teaching aids : Textbook , cassette , pictures C / Procedure : I / Warm up : Kim,s game ( Getting started ) - Show 6 pictures to Ss and ask them to look at 6 pictures quickly in 30 seconds and try to remember the verbs in the pictures as many as possible - Which team remembering more verbs is the winner.  Answer : Play game a. Wash dishes / do the washing up b. Make the bed c. Sweep the floor d. Cook e. Tidy up f. Feed the chicken II / Presentation : Introduce the topic of the passage and some new words 1. Pre- teach Vocabulary : - a steamer - a cup board - a sauce pan - chore - a sink * Checking techniques : What and where - Set the scene of the dialogue between Nam and his mother , Mrs Vui . Listen and copy down . Repeat in chorus and individually Guess its meanings and copy Play game - Ask Ss to complete the list of the things Nam has to do . - Turn on the tape and ask Ss to look at their books and read their complete sentences : - cook dinner . Nam has to - go to the market to buy fish and vegetables. - call his Aunt , Ms Chi and ask her to meet his mother at grandma,s house -> Form : Has / Have to + Infinitive = Must + Infinitive Model : What do you have to do ? I must do the washing up . -> Use the picture cues drill : Listen carefully Listen to the tape while looking at their books .
