ambient electromagnetic field during testing shall be at least dB below the specified test limit over the complete range of test frequencies specified If a test site does not meet these requirements, testing within an appropriate screened room or enclosure will be necessary When testing in screened rooms or enclosures, the EWIS shall be located at least 100 mm from the edge of the ground plane G2.5 Loads The EWIS shall be assembled as required in Appendix D and tests shall be carried out under simulated full load G2.6 Power supply filtering and earthing The mains power supply to the EWIS cable, with a minimum length of m G2.7 Duplication of input or output circuits Where circuits are electrically and functionally identical, only two of each type of circuit, randomly selected, need be subjected to the specified tests Circuits with programmable electrical functions shall be tested in all modes G2.8 ECP condition All parts of the EWIS normally installed in an enclosure shall be tested in an enclosure similar to its installation G2.9 Type tests The electromagnetic compatibility test shall be applied as a type test only G3 RADIATED SUSCEPTIBILITY TESTS G3.1 Principle The EWIS is subjected to electromagnetic radiation to assess its ability to operate without false operation, under specified conditions G3.2 Apparatus The test apparatus shall consist of the following: (a) receiving antenna shall be located m from the transmitting antenna, aligned with the EWIS and transmitting antenna (i.e m from the EWIS) Both antennas shall be located a minimum of m away from the screened enclosure walls, or any buildings, structure or obstruction For tests between 20 and 200 MHz, where biconical antennas are used, they shall be positioned to generate alternately, vertical and horizontal fields over the test frequencies Where log spiral or helical antennas are used to generate the field, a change in the antenna is not required (b) Connect a kHz-tuned frequency selective voltmeter to a typical terminated speaker and inter-communication line Typical equipment arrangements are shown in Figures G1 and G2 G3.4 Procedure Adjust and maintain the radiated field strength at the value specified at Clause 5.3.2.7 and sweep the frequency of the signal source over the range specified, changing antennas as required Observe the EWIS and actuation devices for false operation Monitor the voltage on the speaker and inter-communication line, and measure the voltage where it exceeds the criteria at least three times per octave G3.5 Test criteria The EWIS shall not operate in an abnormal manner, change state, or generate a false actuation when subject to the test The kHz voltage measure on the speaker and communication lines shall be at least 30 dB below the voltage Attach the signal source and EMI meter (or equivalent) to the coupling network (c) Connect the kHz-tuned frequency selective voltmeter to a typical terminated speaker line and inter-communication line Typical schematic arrangements for conducted susceptibility test are shown in Figures G4 and G5 G4.4 Procedure (a) Connect coupling network for differential mode operation on the a.c lead NOTE: It may
