Date of preparation : 5.12.2008 Unit 8 : LIFE IN THE FUTURE Date of teaching : 9.12.2008 Section: Listening I AIMS AND OBJECTIVES :  Language content: To help Ss listen for general ideas and specific information To introduce some new words relating to the topic - Vocabulary : incredible, centenarian, life, expectancy, fatal, eradicate, eternal life - Structure : the simple past tense, the simple present  Language function: - listen for the understanding of the passage. Educational aim : - Students should know about the factors help people have a long and healthy life. Skill : Integrated skills : listening II. TEACHER AND STUDENTS’ PREPARATION: 1. Method : Communicative Approach. 2. Techniques: Repetition, explanation, group work, asking – answering. 3. Materials needed : Textbook, pictures, real thing. 4 Students’ preparation : Reading the lesson at home, prepare the new words 5 Previous exercises: III. PROCEDURE IN CLASS. 1. Stabilization : (2ms) a. Warm – up : Greetings. b. Checking absence : Who’s absent today ? 2. Checking up previous knowledge: Time needed: (5ms) Questions Key to questions: 3. Before-listening: Before you listen: - Ask students to look at the book and answer the question in the book. - Let them work in pairs. - Listen and correct for them.
