BÀI LUẬN MẪU THI THPT QUỐC GIA MÔN TIẾNG ANH Do you agree witth the idea that marriage should be based on love or not and why? Nowadays, almost all of people experience love and then reach marriage. However, I partly agree with the idea that marriage should be based on love because only love is not enough. Here the following reasons are. First, there is no denial that love makes people happy in life and helps them overcome severe difficulties and build a warm family. It is love that joins a man and a woman together. When these above supposed things become true, I call it true love, in other words, forgiveness and sacrifice contribute to true love. Moreover, future home"s finance also affects the family happiness. For example, your child can"t study at school without money, you even have no wonderful moment when both of wife and husban "s inconsistency related to money turns up and so on. In conclusion, marriage should be built on love and serious attitude of two sides who accept specific characters each other and fullfil the gap"s spouses. Write about your hobby Of all the interesting freetime activities as well as entertainments, I like reading book most because of its good aspects it brinngs to me. First and foremost, reading book not only helps widen my knowledge but also makes me love my life more. As you know reference books provide us with a lot of information of every field of our life. Besides, novels, stories which contain many romantic and touching plots controlling my feeling a great deal. Moreover, enjoying books regularly gives me a good habit as I am more and more patient. Especially, my ability to express words fluently is better and better. Therefore,I will be confident of communicating with others. In short, reading books is my main hobby and I will make best use of its advantages to have a happy lifestyle. What kind of job would you like to do after you finish your education? Marketing seems to be the kind of career I would like to choose after i leave from university. I like this work in view of some following reasons. First of all, marketing position is well-paid job. The more you help your company sell more products, the higher your salary is. Of course, you need to have effective stragedies to attract customers. Secondly, Working as a marketer gives me many opportunities of improving my persuding skill and ability to converting idea into words. There is no denial that this kind of job requires different skills , but if you meet these requirements, you will be more and more professional. On the whole, it is simply my hobby. Needless to say ""you will do something best when you like it"". Write about the kind of book you like best I am usually in habit of reading books. Addition to books that offer me much useful information,I also like comic book. I am in fond of it for some following reasons. To begin with, Comic books bring me a great deal of relaxation. One of them is Doremon story, which tells many funny short stories about 2 main characters, Doremon and Nobita,Who are close friends. The author of that comic creats so many amusing situations among characters that I can"t help laughing. It"s actually a hard-to-put-down book. It attracts not only children but also adults as me. Another good point of it I want to mention about is creative imagination. I mean children need to have imaginative mindset, which helps them be more active in life. By and large, comic book is worth reading after hard work. It is nice for everyone. Describe a village you know well I was born and have grown up in the country in a small village beside a beautiful river. My village is surrounded in a hedge of green bamboos. Most of the houses in the village are built of brick and have red tiled roofs. In the middle of the village there is an old pagoda with high trees around it. On the first and fifteenth days of the lunar month, the villagers often go to the pagoda to give offerings to The God of Agriculture. On the right of the village flows quietly a clear and blue river. When I was young, I used to swim in the river with my friends. How can I forget the wonderful time on this river fishing or rowing a boat with my boyhood friends! On the left of the village lies the village green where village meetings are often held by village officials. On this ground covered with soft grass we used to fly kites on windy autumnal evenings. The majority of villages live on agriculture. They get rich thanks to their fertile rice-fields and their diligence. Harvest time is certainly the busiest and the merriest time of the year. During the harvest, the villagers often get up very early in the morning. They cheerfully go to their rice-fields to harvest the bumper crop – the fruit of many months of hard work. My villagers are very friendly and helpful. They are willing to offer mutual help in any case and always get on with one another harmoniously. My village is rather small indeed but I like it very much because I was born and have grown up there and spent my happiest childhood among the simple and hard-working villagers who always feel attached to their native land. The importance of reading newspaper. As the name suggests newspapers are a source of news and information. In several respects they are also a medium of communication among the peoples of the world. Today there are hundreds of newspapers all over the world. Everywhere there is a keen desire to learn more and more about the affairs of the world. This is partly the result of the spread of education which sharpens one’s curiosity to learn about distant lands. As a source of news, the newspaper is almost indispensable to those whose thirst for knowledge is insatiable. They contain news on events in distant corners of the earth. Information about such events arrives almost immediately. As a result, people everywhere are informed about the most important event in the world very quickly and almost at the same time. For example, if a war breaks out in one part of the world today, the people in the other parts will certainly come to know about it tomorrow. As a result, all the countries of the world are able to do something quickly to help those who have suffered because of the war or to persuade the countries at war to cease fighting. Newspaper also play an important part in keeping the people of the world informed about the troubles that might arise in the future, if nothing is done to prevent them from happening. For example, if a dispute arises between the two countries for any reason, the newspapers can keep the people of the world informed about what might happen if nothing is done to persuade the two countries to resolve their differences peacefully. In this way many wars have been avoided because of the intervention of some countries in the disputes of many countries which were given prominence in newspapers. When all this is considered, we feel that there is some silent communication among countries through the medium of newspapers for the common benefit of the countries of the world. Further, constant reading of newspapers improves one’s outlook on life and makes one a more reasonable person. The importance of the newspaper is therefore obvious. Your most embarrassing experience Our family live in the suburb of HCM city, not far from the central city. It is about 30 kilometers to the South. Last week my parents, my brothers and my sisters paid a visit to my grandparents in the country and I therefore stayed at home alone. I used to get up very early in the morning. As usual, after going to the market to buy some necessary things, I came back home to start doing the housework such as cleaning the floor, making the bed, making coffee and preparing lunch. The house now was so clean and tidy that it seemed bigger and larger. I had worked from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. I was so tired that I had to stop working for a rest. After 15 minutes of relaxation, I started working again. Right after I had taken the teapot from the cupboard, I suddenly felt something burning downstairs. I got so embarrassed and frightened that I dropped the teapot while I was hurrying downstairs. To my horror and surprise, the kettle on the electric stove was on fire. I was in such a confusing state that I was quite at a loss. Then I came up an idea: I rushed to the switchboard to cut off the electric power. The house suddenly became as dark as pitch. In the pitch-dark kitchen, the kettle turned so dazzling red that it looked just like a hot burning sun on a stifling summer afternoon. Would you prefer to have an expensive and ostentatious wedding with lots of guests or a simple and quiet one? Everyone has his own conception. These viewpoints are quite different from each other, especially in ceremonies and rites, for example, in a wedding ceremony. Last Sunday, one of my closest girlfriends invited me to her wedding. The bride was born of a middle-class family. Her parents are retired government officials. To satisfy their daughter’s wishes, they had to organize a pompous and expensive wedding. The wedding was prepared carefully: they had the house whitewashed and decorated, lanterns and gorgeous flowers were hung everywhere. On the wedding day, the bride wore a full-length pink dress, with a crown on her head just like a queen. A great number of guests were invited to the party. Delicious and rare main courses were served in the deafening sounds of rock music. Almost all guests drank so much whisky and brandy that they got as drunk as lords, and the wedding party lasted three days and three nights. It was rumored that her wedding party cost half of her parents’ fortune. As for me, I have a quite different conception of wedding. I prefer to have a very simple and quiet wedding party rather than an ostentatious and expensive one. Before my wedding, I myself will decorate the living-room in accordance with my taste. In my wedding ceremony, I will wear a traditional dress which represents chastity and purity. Only few friends and relatives will be invited to my simple wedding party. There will be no rock music and no other kinds of festivals. In summary, I conceive that the happiness of a newly-married couple cannot be found in an ostentatious and expensive wedding which only ruins their health and their parent’s fortune. Talk about the habit of smoking cigarettes Smoking cigarettes is really an expensive habit. The average price per pack of cigarettes, for example, is just about one dollar, people who smoke two packs of cigarettes a day therefore spend $2 per day on their habit. At the end of one year these smokers incur a debt. Since cigarette smoking has an offensive odor that permeates clothing stuffed furniture and carpets, smokers often find that they must have these items cleaned more frequently than nonsmokers do. Further more, a smoker would pay a large sum of money for some diseases coming from smoking. Although it is difficult to sum the cost of these additional expenses, we can say that the expenses do contribute to making smoking become an expensive habit. Describe your best friend and tell why you like him or her In our daily activities we often get in touch with the others and from these relations we meet some people whose interests, characteristics and behaviors are similar to ours and we choose them as our friends. To me, one of my best friends is Nam. Nam is only over eighteen but he is well developed; so he is thought to be twenty or more. He has black hair, a broad forehead, a straight nose and bright eyes. He is very good-looking. He has a kind heart and is easy to get on with everybody. We have been friends for a very long time. The deeper our mutual understanding becomes the more we feel closely attached to each other. “Birds of a feather flock together”, Nam and I are keen on learning. We are the best pupils in our class. Nam is always at the top. He is good at every subject, but he never shows pride in his abilities and always tries to learn harder. Nam’s family is not rich enough. His parents are retired workers. Realizing the hardships of his parents, although he is absorbed in his study, he often spends most of his spare time doing useful things to help his parents in their old age. He gets up early in the morning to have enough time to deliver newspapers to subscribers before going to school. After school in the afternoon, he repairs bicycles and motorbikes. Therefore the money he gets from his manual job is sufficient for his school fees and for his parents’ presents. I like Nam very much because of his honesty and straight forwardness. He is always ready to help his weak friends in their study; as a result, lots of friends, thanks to his whole-hearted help, have become good ones. In my relation with Nam, I have got precious experience: thirst for learning, patience to overcome difficulties, helpfulness and filial piety. Describe a bridge you know well Whoever has been to Hue ancient city will always admire the gracefulness of Trang Tien Bridge. Built a long time ago, Trang Tien Bridge was made of steel and concrete and supported by huge underwater columns which extend to a depth of over 150 meters under the water. It is composed of 12 spans joining the left bank to the right bank of the Perfume River. From far away it looks like white arches emerging from the blue skyline. On bright moonlit nights, standing on the bridge you can see myrisds of vacillating stars reflecting on the clear and blue waters. How cool and relaxed you feel at that time! The light evening breeze rising from the river caresses your skin and fills your lungs with soft fragrance. All around you are coolness and quietness. In the stillness of the long night you can hear the little waves lapping against the sampans gliding gently below. Now and again a sweet melodious chant rises from somewhere and then gradually vanishes in the quiet atmosphere. During the day, however, the sceneries are livelier. Cars, motorbikes and bicycles are streaming towards the other side of the river. Groups of schoolgirls, dressed in white, with conical palm hats on their heads are gracefully walking over the bridge to their Dong Khanh School, talking and laughing merrily. The flaps of their white traditional dress or ao dai are fluttering in the fresh morning breeze just like butterflies’ wings. Tourist will foster sweet recollections of this famous bridge forever once they have visited this Old Capital City. How should people protect and preserve the natural resources? Conservation concerns men’s safeguarding and preservation of natural resources and his responsibility for improving the environmental conditions in which he lives. An important task of conservation is the prevention of waste – waste of forests, soil, minerals, wildlife and human life. Trees help to preserve land because their roots bind the soil and retain water. Without trees, heavy rains will cause soil erosion and the remaining land becomes poor and worthless. Terrible floods often occur in the areas where trees are cut down in great quantity. Forest conservation also means the prevention of bush fires and the attention to planting and looking after new, young trees. Not only should man preserve forests but he should also realize the importance of wildlife protection. Unless governments have a good system of control or pass laws restricting the hunting, fishing and eradicating of rare animals and plants, they slowly disappear. Natural resources such as coal, gas and mineral ores are limited but the need for them is growing day by day. As they may not last for a century, man should use them widely on the one hand, and look for alternative fuels on the other hand. Another serious problem threatening human life is the dirtying and poisoning of air and water. This pollution is mainly caused by the fumes, chemicals and wastes from automobiles, industries and homes. It is hoped that for his own benefit, man can soon find a solution to these problems. The important role of newspaper and magazines in our lives The more society is developed the more means of communication are required. Among means of communication, newspaper and magazines play an important role in our lives. Firstly, newspapers and magazines supply us with a variety of news every day. They keep us informed of the political situation of the world. By reading newspapers and magazines we can know what is happening in our country as well as in the world at large. Secondly, newspaper and magazines contribute a great deal to the development of our knowledge. Through valuable and subtle critical and commentary articles on culture, social civilization, new life style we learn a lot of interesting things. Thanks to newspapers and magazines, our mind and point of view are consolidated and enriched. When reading them we can train our reasoning power. Thirdly, through newspapers and magazines reading, we can find out what we need to know: a job in the situations vacant column, an object we want to buy in the advertising page, a missing relative in the finding missing relative column and condolence news in the agony column. Fourthly, the Police Newspapers and Magazines help us take precautious against social evils such as theft, murder, robbery, rape, gambling and smuggling. Fifthly, we can improve our English language by reading newspapers and magazines written in English. This enables us to broaden our knowledge of English in every aspect. In conclusion, well-grounded and best-selling newspapers and magazines are worth reading. They are the mouthpiece of the nation and the unseen advisers of the common people. Give one of the activities you like to do in your spare time Watching television is one of the activities I like to do in my spare time. I enjoy watching cartoons on Saturday mornings and sports programs on Sunday afternoons. I also watch television during the week after I have finished all my school work. At night, I especially like to watch movies and situation comedies. If I have a lot of homework, I try to arrange my schedule so that I can watch at least one of my favorite shows. Watching television is not the only activity that I do in my spare time. My other favorite activities are making paper flowers and going shopping with my friends. However, when I have spare time, I spend more time watching television than any other activities. Watching television can help me not only relax but also build me a huge knowledge of the open world. Talk about the importance of agriculture Since the time men learnt to grow crops, agriculture has been the main source of food. Today, most of the people in all parts of the world, especially in developing countries, are engaged in agricultural activities. Human is mainly a grain-eating animal. In Asia, most of the people eat rice. In Europe, North America and Australia, wheat is the main food crop. If rice and wheat cannot be grown, millet and other cereals are grown as food crops. Though men also eat meat, they enjoy eating meat only when they take it together with rice or bread which is made from wheat. It is therefore clear that grains are the main source of man’s food, and grains are agricultural products. Men, however, cannot live on grains alone. They need other foods too to make his meals more palatable. Therefore, they learnt to grow vegetables, potatoes and fruits. Like grains, these things come from the soil. They have to be planted and grown with great care. As a result, men have made many experiments on soil for several centuries to increase their production of crops. Men have also learnt to consume dried leaves to refresh themselves. Tea and tobacco, the dried leaves of certain plants, have become very popular as sources of refreshment. Even coffee and cocoa are products of plants. Cotton, jute and other fiber are used to make cloth and several other things for our daily needs. All these plants have become very important in agriculture. In some countries, agriculture is a main source of wealth. The rubber tree and the oil-palm in Malaysia bring millions of dollars every year. In Bangladesh, the jute plant is the main source of wealth. Similarly, in almost every country there is at least one plant which makes a great contribution to the economy of the country. We arrive at the conclusion that agriculture play an important role in men’s world. Why are good books good teachers and friends? It is often said: “Tell me what you are reading and I will tell you who you are”. For me, a good book is always a good teacher guiding me through life as well as a true companion encouraging me and consulting me in my desperate straits. In fact, interesting books are a source of invaluable knowledge to those who want to master everything they haven’t known before. Through masterpieces all over the world we can realize the whole outstanding culture and civilization of mankind in every aspect: literature, science, sociology, anthropology, technology and economics. Nobody denies the important role of good books in developing man’s knowledge. The more we read valuable books the more we become wise and experienced. By reading books, we can get rid of all prejudices and narrow-mindedness. We can no longer live in The Ivory Tower like a recluse and therefore we can get along with other people around us easily. Next, good books are true companions who always share our joys and sorrows in our daily activities. Are you in low spirits and disappointed in your affairs? Read wise advice through books by profound scholars and authors. Are you sad? Read subtle humorous stories of well-known humorists in the world. All your sorrows and disappointments will vanish at once. In summary, good books help us train our personality. They help us distinguish the Good from the Bad and they lead us to the True, the Good and the Beautiful. An incident I shall never forget The outline: 1. When it happened 2. Where I was 3. What happened 4. The end One day, last year, I was alone in my house, when something terrible happened. I can still when something terrible happened. I can still remember the incident very clearly. My parents were out that day to meet some of their friends. My brothers and sisters had gone to the cinema. All of them returned very late in the night. As I had some school work to do, I stayed at home alone. I was reading my lessons in a room at the back of our house. It was now very dark. Suddenly, I heard a strange cry outside the house. It frightened me at once. I heard the cry again, but this time it was not so loud. I now felt certain that a child had been attacked by some person or an animal. I opened the door at the back of the house to find out what it was. As soon as I did so, I saw a small girl with a lot of blood all over her body, lying on the floor. She was still alive; however, I then took her into our house and telephoned to the hospital near by. Soon an ambulance arrived and took her to the hospital. I did not know what happened after that. When my parents returned, I told them all that had happened. The thought of this incident frightens me even today. The difference between my father and my younger brother in the family A definite generation gap has existed between my father and my younger brother, Tom, since my brother’s thirteenth birthday. For example, my father has simply not be able to understand why Tom can sit for hours, his eyes closed, listening through headphones to hard rock music. And Tom has stalked out of the room whenever my father has turned on the radio to one of his favorite melodious love songs. Also, since that day, Tom became a teenager, he and my father have had a continual squabble about the chores. Last year, when my father asked Tom to mow the lawn or clean up the motobikes, Tom usually did the chores without complaining. Now, at the mere mention of the word “lawn”, he disappears. Moreover, for the last six months, Tom has refused to eat anything but bread and milk for breakfast while my father has scowled uncomprehendingly, eating his traditional bacon and eggs. Indeed, almost every word or action that has passed between Tom and my father lately has widened the gap of understanding between them. Talk about good manners Good manners play an important part in maintaining peace and good-wiling in a community. A man who has good manners does not hurt the feelings of others, and therefore he is on good terms with his friends and neighbors and also with others. In this way he helps to keep peace in society. But a man whose manners are bad has no respect for others. He uses words carelessly and behaves rudely towards other and causes a lot of ill-will and unpleasantness. In the end, it is he himself who suffers the most. Everyone avoids him and he is forced to live almost in isolation. To live well in a society, money alone is not enough. We should also have good manners, for it is human nature to seek friendship; and friendship cannot be bought with money. Friendship with others makes life pleasant and it has to be earned through our own attitude towards others. If we are kind to others, they will be kind to us, and kindness is the essence of good manners. Bad manners not only drive away friends but also others, including our own family members. Even the richest man cannot afford to have had manners. For a man may have enough money to buy all things than he wants; but if his manners are bad he will have no friends, and no one can live happily without friends. Even the members of his own family may not respect him and finally he will become a lonely man. On the other hand, a man whose manners are good has many friends. He commands the respect of all those who come into contact with him. He does not talk ill about others. Even when he is provoked, he tries his best to use words in a way which will not offend others. He is also sympathetic towards the weak and ignorant and does not poke fun at the deformities and weaknesses of others. There are, however, many people who behave so well outside their homes that they are respected and admired by everyone outside. But in their own homes they are worse than the devil. Such people could not be said to have good manners. Their whole behavior is a pretence and it does not take long for others to discover this. If one’s manners are good, one behaves well everywhere, even when one is away from the critical eyes of others. Only such a person can live well in society. It is therefore essential for everyone to cultivate good manners. Describe the house you are living in. Why do you love it The house we are living in is situated in the suburb of HCM city, within thirty minutes’ drive off the central city. We have lived there for more than twenty years. This is a fairly large house surrounded with a luxuriant garden. My house consists of four bed-rooms, a living-room, a bathroom with a shower, a dinning-room, a kitchen and a toilet. It is air-conditioned and well-furnished. The living-room is decorated beautifully. Paintings by famous artists are hung on the walls. At night, the color neon lights increase the beauty and coziness of the room. There, on Sundays and holidays my father usually spends his time playing chess or drinking tea with his friends. My mother and my two sisters are diligent and hard-working women. They often keep the house clean and tidy. On suffocating days of summer, we usually take meals in the garden. It is fairly cool and quiet here. We enjoy our meals amid the melodious twitters of birds. On stormy and rainy nights all whole family members gather in the living-room, watching television or telling each other about their daily activities. I love my house very much because it is the place where I was born and have grown up in the education of my father and in the tender loving care of my mother. I have spent my whole childhood in the love and affection of my dear ones with so many sweet memories. Tell about your hobby in free time. My hobby is stamp colleting. When I was still only a baby, my mother began to collect for me. Of course, she did not let me touch the stamps until I was old enough not to spoil them. I remember that it was on my fifteenth birthday that she first put them into my hands. They were in four fat books, but since that time I have added three more, so that now I have a bigger collection than any of my friends. How do I get my stamps? I have never bought a single one from a shop so my collection has really cost me nothing. My father, who works in a big office, sometimes brings me home stamps from many countries of the world. And I have friends both here and in other lands who send me stamps in return for ones which I send to them. Now that I am working for my living, I do not have as much time as before to spend on my stamps. But in the evenings, what can be better than to sit down at a table with my precious books, arranging new stamps in them, writing in the names of countries, or, if I am too tired, only looking through the stamps already in the books? Each stamp has a story to tell me of far countries and strange peoples. I see pictures of men and women, birds and animals that I have never seen. Kings and presidents pass before my eyes, and I can follow the history of nations I can see Hitler's Germany spreading over Europe and then suddenly breaking into pieces; Pakistan is born before my eyes; countries rise and countries fall - and the whole time I remain comfortably in my armchair at home. But my stamp collection does not make me think only of the past. Just as my mother collected for me, so I, too, am collecting for my future child. What better way will there be of interesting him in history, geography and languages, and of making these subjects live for him instead of being only things in school books? If I pass my hobby on to him, he will bless me for it as I have blessed my mother for her wise action. A picnic I enjoyed The outline: 1. When? Where? 2. Who went along? 3. How much I enjoyed 4. The end One day, a few of my friends and I went on a picnic to Minyak Beku, a small interesting place on the coast of Malaya. Minyak Beku is about five miles from Batu Pahat, a well known town in the state of Johore in Malaya. There is a small ancient fort at the entrance to Minyak Beku. The beach at Minyak Beku is beautiful, and there is an iron mine near by. We arrived at that place in the morning. After getting out of the bus, we separated into different groups and looked for shady places to spend the day. Soon, most of us went swimming. While in the water, we were playing a few interesting games. Those who were on the beach were playing other games. Some of them even sang songs and danced. There were still others who were interested in nothing, except picking shells. In short, everyone enjoyed the trip. In the evening, we returned home in our bus, thinking of the fun we had had at that place. I enjoyed the trip so much. .
