Aims: By the end of the lession, Ss will be able to: - use vocabulary items related to music - guess the meaning of words based on contexts - scan for specific information about music. 2. Knowledege: - General knowledge: Knowledge about music. - Language: + The present simple tense. + Vocabulary concerning music:  3.Skills: speaking, reading II. Methods: Integrated, communicative approach III. Teaching aids: Textbook, handouts, board. IV. Contents: 1. Organisation Class Date of teaching Absent students 10A2 10A4 Times Steps Work arrangement 5 mins 2. Warm up - Play the tape with 5 pieces of music and ask sts to guess what types of music they are. - Get feedback and check. 15 mins 3. New lesson Step 1: Pre-reading Matching - T ask Ss to read aloud the types of music in columnnn A to make sure that they pronuonce them correctly. - Ss give the Vietnamese equipvalents of the types of music. - T ask Ss to work in pairs to match each types of music in column A with its description in column B. - T asks some Ss to give the answers Pair work & whole class - T gives feedback and the correct answers: 1. b 2. e 3. d 4. a 5. c Pre-teaching vocabulary Note: T should only teach the words which do not appear in Task 1. - T elitcits or teaches some vocabulary items: 1.   !"!# 2. $!"!# 3. % &' 4. (', - T may ask some Ss to make sentences with the above words to check their understanding. 12 minutes Step 2: While- reading Task 1: Gap filling based on word meaning guessing Instruction: Fill each blank with one of the words in the box. All of the words appear in the reading passage. -T writes these words on the board:   Continue with the rest of the sentences. -T ask Ss too work individually to do the task. - T ask Ss to exchange their answers eith other Ss. - T ask Ss for their answers and tells them to explain their choises. - T gives the correct answers: 1. communicate 5. solemn 2. lull 6. emotion 3. delight 7. mournful intergral part Task 2: Answering questions Instruction: - , – T instructs Ss to use some strategies to do the task: First, skim the five questions to understand them. As Ss do this they: + underline the key words. For instance, in question 1 Ss can underline   +decide what information they need to find in the text look for questions words like “why” which indicates Ss should read for specific thing like a reason. +Continue with the rest of the questions. Whole class, individual work & pair work - Ask Ss to work individually to do the task. - Ask Ss to discuss their answers with their peers. - Call on some Ss to write their answers on the board and ask them to explain their choises. - Give the correct answers: ./(line 2) 01 234 3.It adds joyfulness to the atmosphere of a festival and makes afuneral more solemn and mourful.53  1 61 1(line13) 2 713 .( line 14) 10 mins Stepp 3: Post-reading Instruction: -, , - T ask Ss to work in groups of 5 to discuss the two questions in the book. - T goes around to help the groups when necessary. - When all groups have finished, T asks every two groups to share ideas with each other. - T calls on some groups to report their ideas to the class - T gives feedback.
