Prepositions of time  At: at + a specific time on the clock (một điểm thời gian cụ thể) at + night  at night  at the weekend  at half past nine Ex: - We don’t have class at weekend. - I have an appointment with the doctor at 3 o'clock. - We sleep at night.  In: in + specific month / year/ season (tháng / năm cụ thể) in + the morning / the afternoon / the evening in an hour Ex:- My birthday is in October. - I was born in 1980. - We have class in the morning.  On: on + a specific day of the week (ngày trong tuần) a specific date (ngày tháng năm) Ex:- I have class on Monday. - I was born on October 31, 1975.  From to: from + (a specific time) to + (a specific time) (từ … đến) Ex: We have class from 1.00 to 2.00.  For: for + (a period of time) Ta dùng for + một khoảng thời gian để nói rằng một cái gì đó diễn ra bao lâu rồi / hay một người đã làm gì đó được bao lâu rồi. Ex:- We watched TV for two hours last night. - Ann is going away for a week in September.  By: by + (a point of time) = not later than by + một điểm thời gian có nghĩa là “trước, chậm nhất là” Ex:- Can you finish the work by five o'clock / tomorrow? - I posted this letter today, so they should receive it by Monday.  After: “after + time” có nghĩa là “sau cái gì về thời gian …” Ex:- We'll leave after lunch. - I'll wait for you in front of the cinema after shortly six.  Between “between + (a point of time) + and + (a point of time)” có nghĩa là “trong khoảng từ … đến …” “between + 2 events” có nghĩa là “trong khoảng thời gian phân cách giữa 2 sự kiện” Ex:- It's cheaper between 6 pm and 8 am. - I'm usually free between Tuesday and Thursday. - Children must attend school between 5 and 16.  Till / Until: “till / until + a definite point of time” có nghĩa là “đến lúc, đến khi” Ex:- We'll wait for your answer untill / till tomorrow. - It may last till Friday. - Nothing happened until 5 o'clock. - He works in the fields from morning till night.  Since : + a certain point of time (since 1990) Ex: We have lived here since 1990  Since : + a certain period of time (for 2 months) 3.
