UNIT 7 (cont’d) Language focus 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 I. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to use the “present perfect tense” with “for and since”. - Use the comparison with “like”, (not) as as, (not) the same as, different from to do some exercises. II. Language contents: 1. Vocabulary: 2. Grammar: - Present perfect with for and since. - Comparison with “like”, (not) as as, (not) the same as, different from. III. Techniques: Ask and answer drill, pairworks, groupworks. IV. Teaching aids: flip-chart, posters. V. Time: 45ms. VI. Produres: Teacher and Sts’ activities Contents 1. Warm-up: (matching) T sticks a poster of infinitives and past participles on the board. 1. Match the infinitives with the past participles: Ex: be  been T divides the class into 2 teams. be gone see collected Ask Sts from 2 teams to go to the go lived do seen board and write each pair of eat attended write done infinitive-past participle. live been work writen The team which writes more pairs attend eaten collect worked wins the game. T checks and gives marks. 2. Activities: Activity 1: T uses flip-chart. Asks Sts to review “for and since”. T gives example. Sts work in pairs. Call some pairs to give their answers. Call Sts to go to the board and write their answers. 2. Complete the expressions use for and since: for + kho¶ng thêi gian since + mèc thêi gian trong qk Ex. for five months. since Tuesday. for five minutes - for three months since January - for 10 weeks since 1990 - since Friday T checks and corrects. since the summer - for 20 years Activity 2: a) Review form of the present perfect tense: T writes form on the board. Sts copy down. b) Gap filling exercise: T asks sts do exercise. Call Sts to answer. T checks and corrects. Sts copy down. Activity 3: T asks sts to work in pairs and read the dialogue (once). T asks Sts to work in pairs to complete the dialogue and then play the role infront of the class. 3. Complete the sences use the present perfect form of the verbs in brackets: Form: Positive: have/has + V p-p Negative: have not/ + V p-p has not Interrogative: have/ + S + V p-p has Ex: I have lived here since last week (live) b) haven’t eaten e) has worked c) haven’t seen f) has collected d) have attended 4. Complete the conversation, use the correct form of the verbs in the box: 1. have been 5. want 2. hope 6. looks 3. have-lived 7. have-been 4. Is 8. saw Call Sts to give their anserws. T checks and corrects. Sts copy down. Activity 4: a) Review: (not) as as, (not) the same as: T gives forms and explains them. T gives examples. Consolidation: T gives exercise. Sts work in groups. T calls some sts to go to the board to complete. T checks and corrects * Complete the sentences, using the words in brackets: Ex: I am tall, but you are taller (as as) I am not as tall as you. 1.
